My name is Noah Nicholl (pronounced the same way as the five-cent coin donning Thomas Jefferson’s face) and I wanted to take the opportunity to share a bit about me. Thank you for taking the time to read the Nicholl for Your Thoughts blog. I am 25 years old. My wife and I live in Auburn Hills, MI, an exurb located about 30 miles north of Detroit.
I graduated from a small high school in 2014 with about 135 other students. After high school, I attended Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Four years later, I graduated from Oakland with a 4.00 GPA, a Bachelor of Science in finance, and a Bachelor of Science in accounting.
Following graduation, I worked for a private wealth management firm that served high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals and families (with typical asset values between $2 million and $50 million). During my tenure at the firm, I studied for the CPA exams at night and passed all four on the first attempt. Thirteen months after beginning my first full-time job, I quit (you can view my first blog post for the full explanation).
Shortly after leaving the wealth management company, I started a statewide moving company in Michigan (it’s called Loyal Labor and Moving, LLC). In early 2020 I became a licensed accountant in the state of Michigan, adding the CPA designation to the end of my name. I am an avid investor and I spend my weekday mornings trading stock and ETF options.
I am passionate about personal finance and I strive to help people identify, understand, and utilize their financial resources to accomplish their goals.
Now that you know a bit about my professional credentials, let’s move into the personal realm. I was raised in a small, rural, one-stoplight town in southeast Michigan called Yale. I grew up as the oldest son in a loving family with two younger brothers. During my sophomore year in high school, I started dating a girl named Nicole. Countless laughs, many adventures, and six years later, we got married. We both love to run, having completed four marathons together. Over the years, Nicole’s deep love for travel has rubbed off on me. In fact, traveling is now near the top of our priority list.
I have recently become a podcast fanatic and I find that they are a great resource for information. I enjoy reading nonfiction books and tend to lean toward those focused on personal finance and investing. Nicole and I love The Office, Money Heist, and Game of Thrones.
In the grand scheme of things, these are just a few choice items about me. As I share my thoughts on a weekly basis, I would be grateful for your readership and I hope to be able to complete a more complete picture for you.
